Swisher calls for Congress to subpoena Trump's translator from Putin meeting

Aaron Swisher, the Democratic candidate challenging 10th-term 2nd District GOP Congressman Mike Simpson, today called on Congress to immediately subpoena President Trump’s translator from Trump’s summit meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and criticized Simpson for not immediately speaking out on the matter. “The president sold out our security, undermined faith in our intelligence community, and gave credibility to a country that is trying to undermine our Republic. And that is only what we saw on TV,” Swisher said in a statement. “I fully support having the Congress immediately subpoena the president’s translator to find out what Trump promised Putin in private.”

SWISHER SPEAKS OUT ON TRUMP’S ACTIONS AT HELSINKI SUMMIT

-Congressional candidate holds Congressman Mike Simpson accountable for his silence

BOISE, ID (July 17, 2018) — Democratic candidate for Idaho’s 2nd congressional district Aaron Swisher has
made a statement on President Donald Trump’s actions in Helsinki, Finland yesterday and is holding
Congressman Mike Simpson accountable for not doing the same.

"Yesterday, numerous Republicans -- including both of Idaho’s Senators and Congressional Representatives
such as Trey Gowdy -- spoke out against President Trump's actions in Helsinki, Finland,” Swisher said.

“Unfortunately, Idaho's Representative Mike Simpson wasn't among them.”
At the summit in Helsinki, President Trump threw American law enforcement under the bus and sided with
Russian intelligence agencies in influencing U.S. elections.

"The President sold out our security, undermined faith in our intelligence community, and gave credibility to a
country that is trying to undermine our Republic. And that is only what we saw on TV,” Swisher said. “I fully
support having the Congress immediately subpoena the President's translator to find out what Trump promised
Putin in private.”

“This is an ‘all hands on deck moment’ where Americans should put partisanship aside and stand up for our
nation. For Mr. Simpson to stand by silently while President Trump stabs our fellow Americans in the back is
simply unacceptable,” he said. “I can only guess that Mr. Simpson is too afraid of losing his seat in Congress to
show the leadership that Idaho and America deserve by rebuking Trump’s statements."

Swisher to Dems: '20 years is enough for anybody to be in Congress'

2nd District Democratic congressional hopeful Aaron Swisher fired up Democrats at the party’s state convention today, drawing loud applause and a standing ovation. “Ladies and gentlemen, we are losing the country,” Swisher declared. “We have allowed corporations to take over this economy, to rig this economy against us so that corporate profits and CEO pay go up year after year, Wall Street does better year after year, while the bulk of us fall further and further behind.”

Swisher said he wanted to connect with the community and talk about the economy.

“We have an extreme income disparity problem,” Swisher said, he added the problem effects education and healthcare.

“Threatens our public lands makes the budget harder to balance and that’s really my focus is fixing that income disparity problem in our nation lifting wages for working people making sure working people have a standard of living that they deserve.
